Born and raised in Mumbai, India, Simran earned her International Baccalaureate Diploma from Jamnabai Narsee School, Mumbai. Her family supported her love for reading and her English teachers encouraged her creativity. She briefly attended O.P. Jindal Global University, where the professors were great, the undergraduate liberal arts program was good, but the students were okay. She was bullied, assaulted, and isolated. Trauma led her to therapy and back to her childhood journals, where she revisited memories that she wanted to share with the world. While earning a distant Bachelor of Arts Degree from Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, she held a day job as a copywriter, content writer and conceptualizer for event management and digital marketing agencies. In the evenings, she clacked away on her old-school typewriter attempting to weave her experiences into stories. It is those years of fervent writing that motivated her to pursue a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at California College of the Arts. Currently living in San Francisco, she is working on an auto-fiction novel that depicts intergenerational trauma through the perspective of three women fighting to find their voices in India's patriarchal society.
